It's here! It's huge! It's full of fun! The Abel Maldonado Community Youth Center is now open! The City of Santa Maria Recreation and Parks Department invites you to come visit the Santa Maria's newest recreation facility! Located at 600 South McClelland Street, the Youth Center is centrally located next to the Paul Nelson Aquatic Center, Simas Park and Elks Field.
The Center is alive with activity each afternoon and evening while junior high and high school students (grades 7-12) enjoy the games, basketball, computers, café, fitness equipment and big screen television. There is no membership fee or cost to visit the Youth Center. Some classes have nominal fees and regular pool fees apply for those who want to swim. The Youth Center has become the new entrance to the Aquatic Center. All pool patrons may enter the Youth Center, change clothes in the spacious new locker rooms and exit out to the pool deck. There are also two larger changing rooms designed for families with children. Each of these rooms offers the convenience of having a private changing area with separate bathroom.
Adults who visit the Abel Maldonado Community Youth Center may use the fitness equipment, pool, and basketball facilities in the morning hours. This shared usage allows the teens to have exclusive use of the facility daily after 2:30 PM.
